These optics look even worse when you consider the city simultaneously lost $3.3 million in lead-removal grants and the police department missed the Mila Chatman and Amor Wilson case for five years despite a father’s pleas. Throw in the hiring of a former roommate with a racist background and a "closed-door" culture at City Hall, and many Clevelanders feel like the accountability they were promised has been replaced by expensive drapes and a serious lack of transparency.
